Welcome!

This is a newsletter about our relationship with the natural world and why this matters.

It exists because I believe nature connection is the missing puzzle piece in fighting biodiversity loss and climate change.

Nature connection leads to compassion.

Compassion leads to action.

Action leads to change.

I write to empower you all to make the changes we need: to inspire a rich relationship with nature in yourselves, in those around you and in the next generation.

Why subscribe?

As a free subscriber, you will receive all new, free posts in your inbox on Friday mornings at 10am BST (5am EST).

Paid subscribers get access to my Research Deep Dives series. These are exclusive posts on the first Tuesday of every month, providing a deep dive into a published research paper on nature connection, or the health and wellbeing benefits of biodiversity.

In my free posts, you can expect:

  • Stories and anecdotes from my research illustrating the importance of nature connection and what nature disconnect looks like

  • Personal essays on how my own relationship with nature is helping me navigate grief and life changes

  • Science writing that unpacks the theory and research behind nature connection and why it matters

About me

I hold a PhD from the University of Cambridge on children’s relationship with nature, and I have a background in ecology and conservation. I am passionate about communicating how this relationship forms and why it is vital to continue to cultivate it throughout our lives. I believe this relationship is vital for our own wellbeing and for that of nature and the planet, and cultivating this during childhood is key.

My own relationship with nature has helped me navigate grief after the recent and sudden loss of my father. I believe one of the best ways to illustrate the importance of this relationship is by telling my own story.
